LBCS is Now an Authorized MYP IB World School

LBCS is Now an Authorized MYP IB World School Loomis Basin Charter School is proud to announce that is has been authorized as an International Baccalaureate World School for its Middle Years Program.
LBCS was authorized as a PYP school back in 2011 and we are delighted that our students now benefit from the global perspective and the inquiry based philosophy of the I.B. throughout their journey at LBCS. Our IB Authorization is a magnificent achievement. We are now an IB World School from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade and I am very proud of the dedication and hard work of our entire school community. This is a fantastic achievement and I would like to formally recognize the dedication and hard work of Mr. VonSpreckelsen and our MYP staff!
LBCS Joins Students' Rebuild Water Challenge

LBCS Joins Students' Rebuild Water Challenge Starting next week, LBCS will take on the global water crisis. We'll be joining Students' Rebuild Water Challenge by learning about the impact of the absence of a clean, safe water supply and taking action to make a change in a creative way. Every 20 handmade paper beads, we submit will provide access to clean water for one person in a village. Beyond raising awareness of the water crisis, the beads we make will raise up to $500,000 in matching funds from the Bezos Family Foundation which will support 41 water projects for more than 16,000 people in Tanzanian schools and communities. Next week, your student is going to learn how to make the beads, and hopefully they'll show you and tell you about the challenge. Strategic Planning Community Forum - Thursday, February 27, 2013 6:00 PM

Strategic Planning Community Forum - Thursday, February 27, 2013 6:00 PM We would like to invite you to a Strategic Planning Community Forum, Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6-8pm in the Del Oro High School Auditorium (see attached invite).
You might be asking what is Strategic Planning exactly?
~ Strategic planning is a collaborative process by which an organization determines its optimal future. Strategic planning involves understanding the bigger context, determining the board’s goals and strategies, setting relevant policy, allocating resources and monitoring progress towards realization of the board’s mission and vision. It is one of the most significant leadership roles of a Board of Trustees and the community.
Your input is extremely valuable in shaping the future:
• To bring everyone on board – to engage and to mobilize towards the vision
• To be proactive vs reactive to external forces of the environment
• To guide decision making at all levels
• To ensure sustainability
• To be accountable to the key stakeholders and to the public
• To improve organization learning and capacity
• To communicate what is important
• To move from board compliance to overall performance
We look forward to having you take part in this important planning process.

Principal
