Hi, I’m Kaitlin Culhane.

I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the Loomis Basin Charter School family. I have always had a passion for teaching children and am so thankful to be allowed to spend each day doing what I genuinely love. This will be my 16th year teaching second grade at LBCS. I feel fortunate to be part of this fantastic community.

I am a world traveler, having been to Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Ireland, England, Wales, Greece, Australia, Canada, and Mexico. I have a great interest in all cultures and believe it is essential that students learn about and celebrate a variety. Teaching in an environment that focuses on the growth of the developing child, touching their hearts and minds, and encompassing physical, social, emotional, and cultural needs alongside academic development is beautiful. My classroom is designed around teaching through inquiry. Instead of standing up in front of the class and telling the students what they need to know, I create opportunities for them to engage in active learning based on their questions. Inquiry is an approach to learning that involves exploring the natural world, which leads to asking questions and making discoveries in search of new understanding. “Tell me, and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me, and I understand." -Xun Kuang

Warmly,

Kaitlin Culhane
