Christy D'Ambrosio
Welcome to first grade! My name is Christy D'Ambrosio (Mrs. D) and I am so excited to be a part of the Loomis Basin Charter School. What an amazing adventure this will be!
I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and then relocated to the Granite Bay/Roseville area when I was 15 years old. After completing college and working in the business world, I realized I needed to be where my hearts desire was...with children! Shortly after completing the Teaching Credential Program, I became a mom, the greatest joy of my life. As a family, we enjoy traveling, camping, gardening, skiing, swimming, reading and most importantly learning!
I feel it is a privilege to be an educator. One of the greatest joys in life is to watch a child grow and learn. I believe the perfect recipe for learning is to first provide a safe and loving environment, set the bar high, instill a love for learning, and to create challenging yet fun classroom experiences. As William Butler Yeats once said, "Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a fire." I look forward to helping you ignite the fires within your children.
I think life (and my classroom) is an adventure – full of discovery, joy and hard work.
My teaching philosophy is based on the Latin word for education, “educare” which means “to feed and nourish.” Both as a teacher and mom, I strive to facilitate opportunities and provide environments that will “educare” children: body, mind and spirit.. It is my intention that each day, every child will experience the following education:
--Someone or something to love
--Something purposeful to do
--Something beautiful to look at
--Something important to think about.
I believe that these experiences will foster in children not only a lifelong love of learning but also a desire to “educare” others in the world. I’m looking forward to a great year full of “aha!” moments as we learn and grow together at LBCS!
