Welcome to Loomis Basin Charter School, an International Baccalaureate World School! It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year.

 

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme promotes the education of the whole person, emphasizing intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth through all domains of knowledge. We are lucky to offer both the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students in sixth through eighth grade. Both programmes weave together five essential elements of knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action to create engaging, real-world experiences for life-long learners.

 

Our staff collaboratively created the following vision statement for our school that is at the heart of all that we do: We are a community of learners empowered to enact positive change in the world. We work hard to foster a growth mindset, to promote equality and respect, and to create a safe environment where students are comfortable to take risks in order to grow.

 

Being that parents/guardians are an integral part of their children’s education, we strongly encourage them to become active participants in their children’s learning. We have open lines of communication, so please reach out to teachers with questions and concerns as they arise. We also rely on parents/guardians to help make the “magic” happen on campus, so look for opportunities to volunteer in the classroom, join us on field trips, attend school events, and join our Parent Teacher Club (PTC). We understand that it isn’t possible for every family to be involved during the school day, but it is equally important to engage with your student’s learning at home. Please take time to talk to them about their day, encourage them to explore the world through inquiry, and guide them in setting-up routines that will allow them to be successful.
